Vegas Baby, SIN City,  What Happens in Vegas-Stays in Vegas. You’ve heard them all, but have you been to Las Vegas? If Yes, for How Long? The difference between most people’s opinion of Vegas is directly related to the Amount of Time Spent There. What gets you on the first day: the flashing lights of the strip set against a gorgeous desert backdrop, the people Everywhere, the incredibly tacky yet beautiful buildings and fountains, the open-top buggies with energetic Tourists hanging out, the Limos, the Lights-and more Lights, the Hookers…I mean, call girls, the groups of bachelor and bachelorette parties with embarrassing hats on, the GAMBLERS. You get the picture, its mayhem, an Adult Disneyworld without rules.  It’s interesting, it’s even somehow glamorous- in a seedy kind of way-but on day 3, unless you are quite depraved yourself, you will be ready to get the heck out of there. Unless you just want to Live In Your  Hotel…

This room in the Venetian was like the one we spent our Christmas Getaway in a couple years ago…v swanky, but not so swanky as Venice 😉

You all know I LOVE HOTELS, and Vegas is one of those places where  Every type of hotel is represented. Luxury, Boutique, Spa, etc. And for some reason, maybe because most people only stay there for a few days, the hotels have VERY competitive rates. If you like a 5 Star hotel at a 3 Star price, Vegas can do that for you. Most hotels have casinos in them, but some don’t. Most have amazing pools and restaurants and spas as well. So, a weekend in Vegas will always be a great value as far as your hotel goes…Unlike a weekend in Bermuda 🙂 For example, an older hotel  in Bermuda may be $450 per night plus taxes etc. In Vegas a 5 Star is found easily for $200 Less per night, and you can stay all weekend in a 4 Star in Las Vegas for the cost of one night in Bermuda, or one night in London for the matter. A Really nice hotel in Vegas is Really cheap!

But what if you get there and become claustrophobic? What if you want to escape the crazy? Easy! There are a lot of things to do IF you are tired of shows, and pool parties, and fine dining, and shopping…Vegas is surrounded by exquisite nature! You can Rent a Car and: Drive to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead in 40 minutes time. Drive to Grand Canyon National Park in 5 hours, or do the Grand Canyon “light” and drive 3 hours to Grand Canyon West where Sky Walk is. A helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon is by far the best way to see the Canyon and goes for around $300 and as low as $250 pp

We will be visititing Las Vegas this month for some advanced training in our field. I found an incredible deal at The Palms Hotel, which is known as a “Celebrity Playground” right off the strip. The rooms in the Ivory Tower have all been recently redone and look modern and chic. The rooftop views are incredible. Rooms at this 4 Star hotel went for 49$ on a weeknight!! A suite for $99!! The special included breakfast and passes to their nightclub. I invited my sister from New York to join us and found her a room here as well as airfare on Virgin. Her room is in the Palms Hotel, though it would have been funny…to me at least, if it were in New York New York 🙂 4 days and 3 nights of Serious Fun for under $550!  How can you beat that? You can match it…in Mexico…But beat it, no.  Viva Las Vegas!
