Traveling to London with an old friend who is now a mom

When an old college friend and I reconnected and I learned she was obsessed with travel (even though she hadn’t traveled at all yet) I became really excited. For a LONG time I have wanted to meet a cool girl who wanted to travel with me. My boyfriend/partner and I are excellent travel companions, but since we live and work together, on occasion we really need some space. Also, traveling with a girl means she pays for half, we can stay in a more average…

Is a Bloody Mary in Kauai worthy of a post? In this case….

I make the BEST bloody mary. Don’t even try me, unless you know a little something about pickling your own brussel sprouts…and then I will shut up. You win with those brussel sprouts Michael! Who ever knew that this little green brain could blow mine? There is this little strip in Kauai (Koloa Town) where only good things live. They have the best poke, the best wine shop, and the best place to brunch: La Spezia…if you like a little bacon in your brie french…

Maui, and Hotel Wailea… you call this a hotel?

Flying to Hawaii will take you some time. We have always used Delta because we have their credit card and use points a LOT. Delta flights tend to stop in LAX for a layover… and by the time you arrive in Los Angeles, you will likely be ready for a little break.  We sat separately on this first leg of the flight. I was lucky enough to sit next to a very entertaining, bisexual, aspiring actor. He kept me laughing the whole way with tales…

Hawaiian Life is a Charmed one!

If you haven’t been to Hawaii, get there, seriously. It is well worth the trip. The first time we ended up in Hawaii it was for a cruise. A dear friend was working for Norwegian on the Pride of America, and we decided to sail with him for a week around the Hawaiian Islands. This was our first cruise together, and while we weren’t sure what to expect, we had a blast. We rented a jeep at every port, and had fun exploring the Islands.…

My first Love in Jamaica: Half Moon, Montego Bay

You all know, I love an all-inclusive once in a while. Yes, some can be a little cheesy, but trust me when I say that others can be absolutely paradise!  The first one I went to was in Cancun, VERY cheap, and lots of fun…It was the Oasis.  More than likely I would be too snobby for it nowadays, but it got me started, so to speak. The second All Inclusive I visited ever was Half Moon in Jamaica. Set on a stunning and endless…

What’s up w the pools in Italy??

It’s May, I mean ute well into May, and the pools aren’t opened here in Italy. We arrived at the Molino Stucky in Venice, a hotel famous for its rooftop pool, and what do you know? The pool doesn’t open until May 15th. We will be back to the Stucky again for out last day here in Italy, but that last day is the 13th. What luck!! 🙁   I cancelled a great looking place booked in Florence  called the Mulino de Firenze because the…

Dig Deeper for the Pink Sand in Bermuda

We visited the charming island of Bermuda in search of pink sand, that is, Legendary Pink Sand. Did we find it…well…. The sand in Bermuda used to be VERY Pink, and over the years many storms have carried away the broken shells which make up that pink sand. Interestingly, the beaches in Bermuda are natural, meaning, that unlike most beaches I spent my childhood in Florida on, which have sand imported seemingly all the time, the beaches in Bermuda actually replenish themselves. During a storm…

LOVE-HATE Las Vegas? Get a room anyway ;)

Vegas Baby, SIN City,  What Happens in Vegas-Stays in Vegas. You’ve heard them all, but have you been to Las Vegas? If Yes, for How Long? The difference between most people’s opinion of Vegas is directly related to the Amount of Time Spent There. What gets you on the first day: the flashing lights of the strip set against a gorgeous desert backdrop, the people Everywhere, the incredibly tacky yet beautiful buildings and fountains, the open-top buggies with energetic Tourists hanging out, the Limos, the…

The Bermuda Cruise aka Fatties in Larks love Free Food

Ok, I’m mean, a little mean at least, about this topic. Here’s how it happened: Looking forward to this gorgeous ship…the new NCL Breakaway. It’s MAGNIFICENT in all of the pics I’ve been Constantly looking at. It looks like a huge hotel complex inside, and a mini sports themed park on top. Pretty incredible. All of the pics put out by NCL are computer generated, including computer generated patrons,  but I hear the ship looks exactly like those pics from a neighbor who was lucky…

First time is a charm at the Nola (New Orleans) Indigo…for doggie too!

I’ve been to Nola before, loved it. The wild and crazy feeling is indescribable. Maybe after a frozen daiquiri my mind will go there…but for now, suffice it to say: it’s a lawless town where you may start to feel crazy. Kind of like Las Vegas. But much cooler…why? Because it’s real. The culture here runs deep. If you drive in, you will start to notice the French names for roads and buildings long before you are even near New Orleans. It sort of prepares…
